Review for program Chess School for Beginners

"The application course has three parts: “Rules of Chess”, “Development of Intellectual Abilities”, and “Playing.” The above part is done wonderfully, the explanations are crystal clear, and the tone of the language is warm and pleasant. Every class is accompanied with a substantial number of questions and “hands on” exercises. After you go through the exercises you can take a test to see how well you do under time pressure. As one who saw many newcomers who get frustrated with chess before they even learnt the rules, I can say that this chapter will be joyful for many who might have thrown away a beginners' book before they had even learnt how each piece moves. Open Internet chess blitz Cup

May 10

On the 6th of May the final tournament of the Open Internet chess blitz Cup dedicated to a 50-year jubilee of the Central House of Chess Players named after M. M. Botvinnik for the prizes of FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov took place.

In the final tournament 146 players from 30 world countries took part:
- players who showed the best results in the qualifying tournaments
- invited stars: Kasimdzhanov (World champion 2004), Rublevsky (Russia Champion 2005), Bareev, Kosteniuk, etc.

The tournament had an interesting competition. In the beginning of the tournament the leadership was gained by Rustam Kasimdzhanov: 7 points out of 7 possible! But n the 8th round Rustam lost to Evgenij Gajsin and Sergey Rublevsky reached him and then out-distanced. 3 tournaments before the end of the tournament Sergey had a perfect result – 9 out of 10 – and headed the tournament table solely surpassing the pursuers in one point. But in the 11th round he was beaten in the one-on-one and reached by the Chilean GM Rodrigo Vasquez (the legendary blitz player, considered to be one of the best in the world by right). Everything was decided in the last tournament. Rodrigo Vasquez played Black and managed to defeat Boris Grachyov (Russian champion in Internet-blitz 2005) and Sergey Rublevsky played White and lost to young master Igor Lysyi. Thus the first place with the result 11 out of 13 was gained by Rodrigo Vasquez (Chili).
2nd-5th places were divided by 4 chess players who received equal results 10 out of 13. According to the additional data the final positions are as follows:
Second place - Kasimdzhanov (Uzbekistan).
Third place - Bocharov (Russia)
Fourth place – Rublevsky (Russia)
Fifth place – Lysyi (Russia)

The best regional players are the following participants:

Russia:
1.Bocharov Dmitry(GM)(Russia, Novosibirsk)
2.Rublevsky Sergei(GM)(Russia, Kazan)

America:
1.Vasquez Rodrigo(GM)(Chili, Santiago)
2.Iturrizaga Eduardo Patricio(IM)(Venezuela, Caracas)

Asia and Australia:
1.Kasimdzhanov Rustam(GM)(Uzbekistan, Tashkent)
2. Amonatov_Farrukh (GM) (Tajikistan, Dushanbe)

Europe and Africa:
1.Grigoryan Avetik(Armenia, Erevan)
2. Drozdovskij Yurij (GM) (Ukraine, Odessa)

The best result among women was shown by Alexandra Kosteniuk (Russia) - 8 out of 13.
